2009 Old 46 Pinot Noir
A dark ruby-red color beams in the glass. On the nose, layered aromas of cherries, raspberries, orange and allspice commingle. On the palate fresh berry flavors fill the mouth while notes of vanilla, earth and toasted oak round out the flavorful, lingering finish.

An uneventful growing season in 2009; no frost or unseasonable rain, contributed to the pristine clusters hand harvested in the early morning September 3, 2009. Soaking out at 26 Brix, all grapes and clusters were hand sorted to remove any damaged fruit. After sorting, 50% of the whole clusters were added to the gently de-stemmed berries in the fermentation bins for added structure and complexity. After a two day cold soak, the primary fermentation was completed with native yeasts and pressed after 10 days total. From the press, the wine was transferred into 100% French oak, 50% of which were new. A minimal amount of SO2 was added after completion of the secondary fermentation in April of 2010.
The wine was gently racked once off the lees immediately preceding an unfined and unfiltered bottling on February 21 2011.
